How Switzerland now copes with the unusual phenomenon known as snow

It was already snowing for several days before I returned from work abroad last Saturday. In earlier years, all the roads used to be cleared of snow by 6.00 a.m. Today, when I left for Zurich at 10.20 a.m., some of even the main roads had not been cleared. Moreover, the train that normally comes in from Kreuzlingen just before my train was 7 minutes late. My own train was 6 minutes late. In neither case was there an announcement or apology. Returning from Zurich this afternoon, the train arrived and left on time - but two of the coach doors had nice big signs on them saying that the doors were not working! And all this on the day that train fares have gone up all over the country by an average of over 5%... ... at a time when the CPI Inflation Index for the last 12 months is negative and, for the next 12 months is expected to be even more negative!
